It's Back! Brick Race Returns

Updated: Dec 30, 2021

After a year off, and with a 15-foot high concrete track newly minted by Mike Karmody, a concrete artist in Holyoke, The Great Holyoke Brick Race returned to Race Street on Saturday, October 2, 2021. Among the 30-plus entries were the Art•Nut, a brick racer with a large resin squirrel riding atop a spray painted brick and ERUPTION, an Eddie Van Halen tribute brick racer with a red and black themed guitar.

Holyoke Hummus, El Paraiso Colombiano, and Crave were on hand serving up their delicious fare to racers and spectators alike. A big thank you goes out to Forest Andresen who came through in a pinch to provide audio reinforcement with his public address system. Also, thank you to those who helped set up and break down the race, the Holyoke DPW, and the City of Holyoke for supporting the Brick Race year after year.

For those gearing up for next year’s race already, the race coordinators like the October weather better and are planning the next race for Fall of 2022. Stay up-to-dtae on the Brick Race by likeing its Facebook Page.
